Foreign language immersion programs, starting at the preschool or early elementary school level, have three distinct and important benefits:
- Enhanced cognitive development for children
- Improved ability to communicate with and understand on a deep level people from other countries and cultures.
- Much easier and more effective learning of a foreign language compared to doing so starting in high school in a foreign language class
The United States remains sorely behind most other developed nations in terms of foreign language education. This educational shortcoming leaves our country short of people who can work effectively in and with other countries, and leaves us with a society that is too insular and unable to understand and appreciate different points of view outside our borders
