Liquid Fluoride Thorium (molten salt) reactors are self-controlling reactors that cannot go critical. They are more efficient than current nuclear reactors in terms of fuel usage. Their fuel is more abundant and the technology was developed some 46 years ago at Oak Ridge Lab led by Alvin Weinberg.
Although, technically Thorium is not renewable, but it is abundant to such a degree that it could be considered inexhaustible. Thorium is 500 times more abundant than U235, much more easily mined, and requires no enrichment.
The goal of this petition is to include LFT reactors as part of what is considered Renewable Energy Sources.
