I propose that families who file a married filing jointly tax return with dependent children under the age of 19 be allowed a tax incentive in the form of a tax credit for having one parent decline to work and stay at home with children. This should apply to either the husband or wife who chose to stay home. This incentive would encourage parents to stay home and be more involved with their children and education. Additionally, this would encourage some workers to quit working or quit persuing work and open up more positions for those single parent families or homes with both parents unemployed or even for people with no dependents. You wouldn't create more jobs, but you would create more job openings consequently you would reduce unempoloymet
