There is a federal training program which allows WILLING pilots to carry a firearm into the cockpit of an aircraft for the protection of themselves and the passengers.
Currently the only defense teachers have against armed assailants, is to lock the doors, and huddle the children in a corner away from the door.
This petition proposes a similar program for the U.S. Public School system, which would ALLOW teachers who are WILLING, to take a series of courses in firearms safety, and how to handle hostage situations. This would qualify them to carry a firearm on their person so that in the event of an emergency situation, they can protect our kids. Criminals WILL have guns. Police CANNOT always get to the school in time to protect anyone. Give firearms to the people who CAN protect our kids.
