The position of the United States government that there is no military solution to the military problem in Ukraine is untenable. There can be no long-term solution to Ukraine's economic or political problems as long as the US government continues to ignore the military realities of the situation.
No amount of loans without substantial, simultaneous lethal military aid will be of any value to Ukraine. All diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have failed, and the sanctions regime on Russia has also failed to deter Russian aggression.
With recent reports of increased shelling around Donetsk and convoys of tanks, troops, and heavy artillery moving in the East, it is of the essence that the US provide lethal military assistance and intelligence to Ukraine immediately.
