We owe it to our disabled veterans to allow them to continue to use the Commissary and Exchange, regardless of their VA rating. As the ranks of disabled vets increases, we should grant them the right to use those facilities they enjoyed while on active service, especially in these harsh economic times. It costs nothing to allow them to shop for groceries, housewares and home goodstax free or buy gasoline from base facilities.
Disabled vets have given a piece of themselves in service, many of them not receiving benefits for up to a year after their term has expired. Shouldn't we be saying thank you in more ways than a broken hospital system and a backlog of paperwork to get a paltry sum of money for their time?
