Nick Meli legally carries a concealed handgun. While at the Clackamas mall in Oregon, he heard three shots and noticed the gunman opening fire on innocent people. Nick Meli positioned himself behind a pillar and drew his handgun. The shooter's gun jammed, which gave time for Nick to fire at the subject. Nick saw that innocent victims were in the line of fire behind the gunman and didn't want to hit them. The gunman however noticed Nick Meli and his handgun. The gunman cleared the jam from his rifle, and instead of shooting more innocent people, he retreated, then took his own life. Nick Meli is a hero for saving lives and risking his own life for strangers to help stop a madman. If not for him, the killer could have continued to kill innocent people.
