Publicly apologize for the forced sterilization of Native American women in the 1970s

Created by S.S. on September 08, 2015

The United States government needs to acknowledge the mistreatment of Native Americans and Women's rights in the 1970s. 25% to 40% of Native American women of child bearing age were forcefully sterilized in the 1970s. This was clearly another attempt of ethnic cleansing.

These sterilizations were done out of the belief of racial inferiority and negative stereotypes of the Native American population at the time. At least three generations of children from thousands of Native American women do not exist today due to the Native American sterilization program.

These women were deceived and have since lost their ability to bear children. The United States government needs to take responsibility for it's past mistakes.
