On October 20, 2014, Laquan McDonald was shot and killed by Officer Jason Van Dyke. In the following days, the Police Department, under Rahm Emanuel's direction as Mayor, proceeded to cover up the facts of the case at hand. Over a year later, and only after the courts got involved, the evidence was released to the public. The video evidence is damning and clearly proves that the Police Department, as well as the Mayor, covered up a very serious case of excessive force by an officer.
Today, December 1, 2015, Rahm fired Superintendent Garry McCarthy. This is not enough. Rahm knew the facts of the case and assisted in preventing release of evidence at an opportune time when his re-election was at hand.
Rahm Emanuel should resign as Mayor of Chicago for violating the public's trust.
