On March 16th 2014, Albuquerque Police approached James Boyd in the Sandia Foothills to deliver a citation for illegally camping. After a three-hour standoff, Boyd complies with officers and prepares to vacate the area. Despite this, officers shoot a flash-bang in his direction and release a police dog on him. Boyd attempts to defend himself from the dog with a pair of knives. He then appears to turn to get on the ground and is shot multiple times. Despite being unable to move, Officers fire beanbags on the defenseless man and then release the canine officer on him once more. Boyd died the next day at an area hospital.
President Obama should publicly condemn the actions of all officers involved and call for Police Chief Gordon Eden's resignation for his unjust handling of the situation.
