Publicly condemn Germany's treatment of homeschooling families and affirm the homeschooling rights of Americans

Created by A.R. on August 30, 2013

As Americans, we enjoy the freedom of parents to direct their children's education. Homeschooling, however, is illegal in Germany, and the German government is oppressing families who choose to homeschool.

In 2008, the Romeikes fled to the US. Their grant of asylum in 2010 was revoked in 2012. If deported to Germany, the Romeikes would be arrested and lose custody of their children.

In August 2013, the Wunderlichs were raided by a SWAT team and their children seized, merely for homeschooling.

We petition the Obama administration to publicly condemn the German government's oppression of families who choose to homeschool, to affirm homeschooling in America as a valid and valuable academic option, and to commit to defend the freedom of parents to direct the education of their children.
