The Obama administration has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on the health care legislation. In January 2011, Justice Clarence Thomas was compelled to amend several years of financial-disclosure forms, which are required in order to identify material conflicts of interest. Thomas' disclosures reveal deep conflicts that call into question his ability to be unbiased in the ruling. His wife, Virginia, accepted $500,000 from Harlan Crow to create Liberty Central, an advocacy group dedicated to the overthrow of health care legislation. Virginia has also received $700,000 from the Heritage Foundation, which is publicly against the legislation.
