Recently India has had several extremely violent and disturbing sexual assaults; these horrific events have brought to light the abuses that many Indian women have to endure on a frequent basis. Further the Indian police and authorities have been demonstrated to be consistently apathetic towards victims including blaming the victims for the assault and encouraging them to marry their attackers.
