What we need: President Obama to speak on live television, regarding the public health benefits of MMR vaccines.
Why we need it:
In 1998, Dr. Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (UK) published a research paper claiming that there was a link between administering MMR vaccines (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and contracting autism. The report has been proven false under two tenants:
#1. No researcher could replicate the findings of the original Wakefield paper.
#2. Wakefield "changed and misreported results in his research, creating the appearance of a possible link with autism".
The US is currently in the midst of a public health crisis: a national outbreak of measles & smallpox. It is our Government 's responsibility to promote the empirical truth, and denounce false medical reports.
