On April 24, 1915, the Ottoman government rounded up approximately 250 Armenian intellectuals from Constantinople and deported them to Ankara, killing most of them later on. What followed was a well-documented extermination of over one million innocent Armenians. This atrocity has yet to be recognized as a genocide by the United States government or the Turkish government. While the evidence is simply overwhelming, the Turkish government refuses to acknowledge the existence of this genocide and employs the same arguments used by Holocaust deniers. We call on our Government to recognize the slaughter of over one million innocent Armenians as what it was - a genocide - and to encourage the Turkish government to do the same. We will not let this ethnic cleansing go unrecognized any longer.
