publicly remind the American people that we are a constitutional republic, not a democracy.

Created by A.B. on December 26, 2012

For too long have we seen the rights of minority groups based on race, sex, choice of lifestyle, and favorite pastimes have their liberty stripped away due to the tyranny of majority rule.

We are not a pure democracy where a 50.1% vote can strip life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as defined in our Declaration of Independence as well as explicitly defined in the bill of rights.

This also extends to the rights of the states and local governments to retain power that is being absorbed by the Federal Government. To maintain our liberty we should localize power as much as possible to give individuals and their families as much choice as possible to decide how they wish to be governed. We cannot count on a few bureaucrats in DC, to decide what is best for the entire nation.
