Infant/child car seat crash test results should be released to the general public in a readable format for new and current models. Caregivers should have access to information allowing them to make educated decisions regarding child safety. Currently infant/child car seat crash test results are not released, and the seats are graded on a pass/fail system. When choosing a car seat, a buyer must rely on information the manufacturers release, hearsay, private consumer testing (often unreliable), and the NHTSA's Ease-of-Use Ratings. These Ease-of-Use Ratings are not based upon performance in a crash but instead on labels, instructions, and features. We are required by law to secure our children in car seats, we should be allowed the opportunity to make an educated choice.
