Punish cops equally or greater than civilians when they commit crimes such as shooting unarmed people so they do it less

Created by C.S. on August 19, 2014

Something needs to be done to decrease the amount of police brutality and shootings in this country. It is a police officer’s job to uphold the law, so it only makes sense that they get punished the same if not more than a civilian it they commit a crime. If a civilian were to shoot and kill an unarmed person, they would probably be facing 25 years to life in prison, but if a cop were to shoot and kill an unarmed civilian, they would face a far less severe consequence. Where’s the justice in that? The American people should not be scared of the ones who have sworn to protect and serve them. If a petition about something irrelevant like Justin Bieber getting deported can get over 100,000 signatures and a response from the White House, than an important issue like this should have no problem
