Pursue an amendment to the Constitution abolishing the electoral college.

Created by C.W. on January 12, 2013

The Electoral College stifles democracy in America. It does not give a chance for people who live in winner-take-all states to really have their vote counted in a Presidential election. The Electoral College system can result in the election of a President who did not receive a majority of the popular vote. Additionally, the Electoral College system results in candidates devoting a vast majority of their time campaigning in "battleground" states causing candidates to ignore large chunks of the populous. The 17th Amendment to the Constitution provided direct election to the Senate, and it is time for there to be direct election of the President of the United States. Embrace democracy.
