Pursue criminal charges resulting in prison time for British Petrol CEO and managers related to the Gulf oil spill.

Created by O.D. on November 15, 2012

British Petrol's CEO and senior management are directly and criminally responsible for the vast damages caused to the Gulf environment and beyond. Just like in any other criminal matter pursued against ordinary Americans, their penalty should result in prison time, not a monetary penalty. A few billion dollars is nothing for a company such as BP that has profited in the dozens of billions the year of the spill alone. Sending the CEO and his senior managers to jail will send a much stronger message to the world that we mean business. Finally, there is no reason why a corporation should "get away" by paying a fine in a criminal matter - ordinary Americans do not have the same choice - what makes a corporation so special? Why does the CEO get to "hide" behind money and avoid responsibility?
