push for an amendment to the U.S. constitution so that corporations may not be considered persons under the law.

Created by M.H. on June 30, 2014

With decisions such as Citizen's United and Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby it has been made clear that the Supreme Court deems corporations to be considered the same as an ordinary citizen of the United States under the law. This is a terrible precedent because allowing a corporation to be considered a human being under the law is allowing a small group of individuals undue influence over the political process such as elections and campaign contributions and complying [or not complying] to laws that affect thousands of U.S. citizens. A corporation cannot go to prison when it violates the law, it doesn't go to religious observances [or choose a religion on its own accord to observe or not], it doesn't vote, it doesn't have a living body, and it isn't a person.
