push for a bill tying congressional pay to the National Average Wage Indexing Series used by the Social Security Admin.

Created by K.C. on March 02, 2013

We could save about $700M if we "sequestered" congressional pay. How? Pass a bill that as of next election cycle congressional pay is to be the equivalent of the last year indexed on the national average wage indexing series ( http://www.ssa.gov/oact/cola/AWI.html ), used by Social Security, and to be adjusted to that series every 2 year election cycle.

If congress believes that cutting $700M from WIC is going to make a difference, then cutting essentially the same amount from their pay is just as relevant and just as critical to our fiscal health.
