push congress to confirm a ATF director.

Created by D.W. on January 17, 2013

The main government agency for the enforcement of US gun laws is the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives (ATF). Since 2006 this agency has been lead by acting directors since congress has not been able to confirm a director.

Since the Newtown school massacre it has become clear that action has to be taken to prevent these types of horrible events from happening in the future. We therefore believe that regardless if you support new gun control laws or believe the solution lies in the enforcement of existing gun laws, it is critical for both measures to have a full time director to the ATF to manage and oversee effective action by this agency.
