push Congress to increase the number of Representatives in order to give the power of People's House back to the People.

Created by C.R. on November 21, 2012

The framers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights intended that the total population of Congressional districts never exceed 50 to 60 thousand. Currently, the average population size of the districts is over 700,000 and, consequently, the principle of proportionally equitable representation has been abandoned.

The size of the House has not expanded permanently from it's current number of 435 since 1912 when Congress, as was tradition, expanded the House following the previous Census. Due to an impasse this was not possible following the 1920 Census.
