Push for a Constitutional amendment that allows states to hold a recall vote for their national Congressmen/women. As it stands, Congressmen/women have no way to be held accountable during their terms. We can vote them out after their term, but they know that the American public has a short memory. Having the ability to hold a recall election will give the public more power over their representatives. If states can hold a recall vote, that essentially gives states the right to "fire" their representatives when they fail to represent their states interests responsibly. Allowing the government to be shut down for 16 days was unacceptable. Had states had the ability to hold a recall vote, our representatives may have been more motivated to reach a compromise in a reasonable amount of time.
