The Electoral College is an antiquated system for electing the President of the United States, someone who is arguably one of the most important people in the world. It was designed for a time when the masses weren't educated enough to make an informed choice for president.
Now that times have changed, the constitution needs to change as well. A candidate needs 270 votes to win the Electoral college and therefore the presidency, however we have seen (2000 election) that the "opinion" of the electoral college does not always match the opinion of the majority of Americans.
I urge the Obama administration to push a constitutional amendment through both houses of Congress that would abolish the Electoral College and determine presidential elections by popular vote.
