Healthcare should be a right available to everyone in America, not just a privilege that is at the mercy of employers' balance sheets and economic circumstances. Through a single payer Medicare-for-all system, the US will see significant healthcare cost savings due to economies of scale. When one of the largest drivers of personnel costs for American businesses is eliminated, we are likely to see an unleashing of entrepreneurial ingenuity that would further speed up the post-recession recovery. One of the biggest constraints on American competitiveness globally will also be removed through such a move. Economic reasons aside, there are plenty of moral ones. If we truly are a society where we help the less-fortunate among us, Medicare-for-all is a fundamentally sound way of showing it.
