Push the Department of Transportation and Congress to allocate infrastructure funding to fix Metro

Created by C.H. on January 08, 2015

WMATA has been chronically underfunded and its infrastructure is not at par with what a capital city should be. Too many times commuters are left stuck outside in the cold or at stations due to either a train breaking down, signals failing, or tracks breaking. Moreover, passengers continue to pay high, and increasing fares, with little sign of improvement. This is unacceptable, especially considering that cities in much colder climates - such as Berlin, Copenhagen, and Moscow - have better, more efficient train systems. Despite the frequency of stoppages, delays, and breakdowns, the response by WMATA has been underwhelming to say the least. This is a petition to urge the White House to push both the Department of Transportation and Congress to upgrade WMATA's existing infrastructure.
