Wall Street speculation along with lax regulations created the extreme bust cycle crippling this nation. The creative and highly leveraged deals in the housing market and its subsequent securitization (sp?) of sub-prime mortgages almost took down the U.S. economy as we know it and it will take years to unwind the resulting foreclosures on the books of major banks. It is quite obvious Wall Street is unable to police itself and the "free market" always has its bottom-feeders that seek to exploit loopholes for financial gain. Therefore, it is necessary have in place a dis-incentive of a financial transaction tax and a separate speculation tax on oil and currencies. Use funds to balance the budget, shore up SS until 2050 and match $ for $ in additional IRA's for individuals (w/choices)
