Instead of legislating more limits on guns and gun sales (which are not effective at preventing their misuse), we focus on people, not weapons. We make NRA (or similar) membership a requirement for gun ownership - something the NRA should support. We issue licenses to gun owners, like we do for a car. We require classes and a standardized test for gun ownership (like for autos) and the NRA or similar organization facilitates the classes, which include background checks and cover gun safety, operation, storage, with both written and practical (range) tests. Periodic re-certification classes are required on a regular basis. We solidify a community of responsible, educated gun owners with registered weapons, preserving both 2nd Amendments rights and accountability.
