Dr. Shakeel Afridi is a physician based in Pakistan who helped the CIA in a covert mission to track Osama bin Laden (OBL). After the May 2011 raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan that killed OBL, Dr. Afridi was arrested by Pakistani authorities and charged with treason for waging war against the state (of Pakistan) and more ironically for engaging in terrorist activities. His participation in the covert mission has been confirmed by many US officials including the Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton. On May 23, 2012, Dr. Afridi was sentenced to 33 years in prison. This petition it to encourage the Obama administration to use all means necessary to ensure justice is done for Dr. Afridi. We must push the Pakistani government to pardon or release him soon.
