Having a national holiday on election day is a necessary step in providing ease of access to the voting booth for many hard-working Americans. Voter turnout has been at record lows and while presidential elections tend to be higher than midterms they are still woefully low compared with the rest of the world. With election day drawing near this issue should be given high priority on administration's legislative agenda so that hopefully 2016 will be the year that many Americans might be able to go to the ballot box hassle-free.
