Push laws through Congress to repeal the Twelfth Amendment so the Electoral College is not a part of the election.

The Twelfth Amendment gives power to the Electoral College. This petition is not a call for total appeal of the Twelfth Amendment, simply the removal of the Electoral College. The Electoral College gives power to states that are typically more bipartisan. This forces Presidential Candidates to campaign primarily in these states, which gives more power to the voters in these areas. Not only does it give unequal and unjust weight to the vote for these citizens, but it devalues the weight of the vote for citizens of states who typically vote for a certain party. The Electoral College allows for a President to be elected into office, without having the majority of the vote, or even more of the popular vote. This happened in 2000, do not let it happen again. Give the vote to the people.
