Spurred on by the outrageous gun violence towards the innocent, law makers have begun discussing legislation aimed at controlling the use and possession of guns. This is a good first step, but I believe that we must go further and look to why these murderers committed these heinous acts. I believe that people murder the innocent because they lack adequate social connections with family and friends. The Obama administration must start a crusade aimed at getting all of our citizens involved with other people face-to-face instead of in video games or facebook. This could be as easy as advocating for family diners every night, or starting programs aimed at getting families out in the community playing sports, doing community service, or going to a community movie night.
