Push for legislation to repeal the War Powers Resolution of 1973 and for the Authorization of Military Force Act of 2001. They are both in violation of the Separation of Powers as mandated in the Constitution.
Both of these pieces of legislation were created following horrific events within our history as a nation. Both were knee-jerk reactions guided by a passion for swift justice to be administrated to the perpetrators of the Gulf of Tonkin events in 1964 and the terrorist attacks on New York City in 2001.
Since Congress has the power to "declare" war (Article I, Section VIII of the Constitution) and not "make" war, which then allows the President to defend the country from sudden attacks, both acts are also superfluous.
Reinstitute governmental restraint; repeal these Acts.
