If your gun is used in an assault, you should be liable. A reasonable individual should take all necessary precautions to secure their guns. This liability would make insurance a necessity.
Liability insurance, like that needed to insure automobiles, would increase law abiding citizens incentive to secure their guns. Sandy Brooks would not have happened had his mother's gun been secured.
