A 'Medicare for All" plan would cover all Americans, take the burden of insurance off of business, and control health care costs by bringing all segments under one roof.
The government would be able to consolidate purchases of drugs, supplies, and equipment with the VA and the military, getting better prices for major purchases. It also would take Medicaid off the books since the coverage would be universal.
There would be an increase in the Medicaid tax, split between employer and employee, but the total tax should not exceed 20% when added to Social Security tax as a single deduction.
Implementation could start with taking current county, state and/or city run health systems and using them as a base for future expansion into areas of need.
Dr. & nurses would be salaried & supported.
