Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
That is the entirety of the proposed amendment, first written in 1923 and submitted in congress every year until 1972 when it passed and was sent to the states for ratification, where it fell 3 states short of the required 38.
Even if we do pass laws to the same effect it should be enshrined forever as a fundamental principle in our founding document, we petition the White House to work towards the passage and ratification prior to the 100 year anniversary.
