There are 6,636,900 visually disabled individuals in the United States (https://nfb.org/blindness-statistics), and yet only 1 to 7% of the WORLD'S published books are made into any form of accessible formats (http://www.worldblindunion.org/English/news/Pages/The-Treaty-of-Marrakes...). Yet because of current copyright laws the blind and visually disabled are unable to order Braille and other accessible formats from other countries where the material might be available and/or cheaper then in the US.
The Treaty of Marrakesh (also know as: Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled) would allow for greater access to international Braille and other accessible books. Please tell the Senate to ratify!
