On behalf on the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, I think that the United States government should put about one to three armed veterans outside each school in the United States. This would also include the non-contiguous states of Alaska and Hawaii.
The purpose of this is to ensure that every child or teenager can get the best experience in public schooling as possible. When you take a look around the U.S. today, you see that the amount of kids being home-schooled is increasing. And a big reason is the shootings.
If you were to put a couple of armed veterans, that are unemplyed, outside of the schools, then they would be able to stop any unexpected intruders. Thus, making the environment safer. This would also create a big amount of job growth
