WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a well-noted civil rights leader, and

WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. promoted the cause of equal justice under the law to advance the cause of liberty for all Americans, and

WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is honored with a federal holiday and a statue on the National Mall, and

WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. represents the highest and best in human achievement, and

WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was motivated to non-violent action against oppression, serving as an example to all Americans, and

WHEREAS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was struck down at the height of his efforts for peace and justice,

BE IT SO ORDAINED Dr. King's face will appear on the obverse of the $20 bill and his statue on the reverse, replacing A. Jackson.
