"The Dr. Oz Show" entertains with sensationalized topics, but is misconstrued by many as true medical advice. "I want no more barriers between patient and medicine," said Dr. Oz., but his support of quack treatments are a barrier for all who turn to him and unregulated supplements instead of seeking real professional help. Dr. Oz is a surgeon, but fitness, nutrition, and weight loss are not often covered in medical school, so being an M.D. does not qualify him to advise people in these areas. Worse yet, most of his claims don't have the research to back them up. This petition calls for termination of "The Dr. Oz Show" not to limit his free speech but to protect the public. One can't falsely yell "Fire!" in a crowded space, nor should a doctor be able to falsely claim "Miracle Cure!" on TV.
