There are several false allegations and misrepresentations:
-The weapons that the media are portraying as 'assault weapons' are actuality modern sporting rifles. While their appearance and some functionality was derived from military assault rifles, they are very different weapons. Contrary to false claims in the media and by some politicians, they do not fire hundreds of rounds in seconds. This style rifle is no more (or less) dangerous that any other weapon.
-'STANDARD' capacity magazines are 12, 15, 17, up to 30 rounds. These are not 'high capacity' as some folks claim and in no way make any weapon more dangerous.
We don't have a 'gun' problem, we have a people problem!
Millions of legal gun owners SHOULD NOT be penalized for the actions of a handful of disturbed individuals.
