Years ago we ruled that the segregation of African Americans and whites was unconstitutional. Now there is a new bill in Kansas that would allow for the segregation of gay people. The parameters of this bill would allow for anti-gay companies to fire their gay employees, stores could refuse gay people from entering or buying their products, and can be refused the help from a police officer if the officer wishes not to help a man or woman whose sexuality "goes against their religion." If a gay person chooses to sue the company/agency then they will inevitably lose and get stuck with the opposing sides legal fees. This is a bill that will resonate and if we don't put an end to it now, then even more states could put this in place, letting segregation once again come into our lives.
