Wall Street and K Street are currently the driving forces behind congressional policies. Policies should be guided by utilitarian principles and enacted through democracy. We supposedly have safeguards in place to prevent tyranny; yet, clearly the middle class and working poor have little or no voice in current politics. Capitalism has manifested the reality that money buys policies. Where are the safeguards? Wealth should not equate to power. Power should be equally vested in every American. In fact, I would even say it is unconstitutional to allow any specific group to dictate policy for everyone. Yet, that is what results from lobbying.
Therefore, we need to put an end to lobbying. We need to go back to one voice, one vote. No more can PAC or SIG determine policy for everyone!
