As someone with a Representative with a confounding trouble for the truth, I believe our elected officials should be held accountable for the lies they tell. They shouldn't be allowed to just wave it off and let it disappear into the ether. I believe they should be forced to pay a fine for every lie they say in a speech or through social media. Put the money to a good cause and maybe some of our elected officials will act as though they deserve their honorable offices.
