Since the Reagan Administration, the U.S. Government has granted contracts to companies without going through a competitive bidding process. This has resulted in out-of-control spending for our military and other government agencies. Further, it has let companies get away with providing poor services to our men and women in the military, and even committing fraud by throwing out new furnishings and equipment so that companies can charge the government to buy more. Our efforts to rein in spending will come to nothing unless we return to the bidding process for companies to obtain government contracts.
