The "We The People" petition site was a good idea, but it is now abundantly clear that it has failed.
In the past, serious petitions have received lengthy responses; they generally boil down to, "If you agree with us, great! If you don't, you're wrong. Thanks for writing!" They often fail to respond to the specific request(s) in the petition. Furthermore, there are many serious petitions that are still awaiting responses - dating back to September 2011!
Meanwhile, the petition threshold is now so high that serious petitions rarely succeed. Most open petitions are repetitive & obviously will never get a response even if they cross the threshold. WtP has become a platform for white supremacists, goofballs, trolls, marijuana advocates, & conspiracy theorists.
WtP is a failure. End it.
