The individuals on our currency represent a great deal of the American story, but most of those upon whom this great honor has been bestowed have been directly involved in our government. Our most commonly circulated currency does not fully reflect the social and ethnic diversity that is a fundamental tenet of our identity, it does not demonstrate essential American contributions to arts and culture, and it under-represents women and people of color. Therefore, we petition to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with legendary singer Aretha Franklin. Ms. Franklin's accomplishments in the arts are beyond question, and her artistic development and rise to prominence are uniquely American products. She deserves to be immortalized.
