As with many proposed laws, complexity is a means to weaken, delay, and ultimately defeat sound legislation designed to benefit the majority of our citizens. This petition seeks to avoid this fate by encouraging the executive and legislative branch to enact new, simple federal firearm safety rules. Rules include:
1) Outlaw the sale and re-sale of all automatic and semi-automatic firearms. All new firearms will require the user to use a lever, bolt-action, or pump action to load the firearm.
2) Outlaw the sale and re-sale of internal, tubular, or rotary magazines or clips containing more than a six round capacity.
3) Enact federal guidelines and background checks for all gun sales, including all private and corporate sales.
These rules seek to minimize the extent of mass murder events.
